Western Digital Unveils Its First Portable SSD Starting Price $100. Western Digital which is one of the largest manufacturer of computer hard drives. The company have recently announced that it is manufacturing companies first portable SSD. This portable SSD will allow computer users to store large size of data at a blazing speed on a portable SSD.

This portable SSD will be a new member of Western Digital’s most successful My Passport series.  WD My Passport SSD will be available in different storage sizes which include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capacity.

My Passport SSD will be much faster in data transfer rates as compared to WD’s ordinary portable drives. WD’s portable SSD will allow users to transfer data at 515MB/s which was not previously available on commonly available portable drives.

My Passport SSD will have a USB 3.1 Type-C to Type-C connector which supports data transfer at 10GB/s. The company will also provide a USB Type-A connectors with this SSD to allow option for connectivity with devices which do not have a Type-C connector.

My Passport SSD will offer 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password which means that users data will be secure. The drive is shock resistant and can stand a drop from approximately 2 meters height.

This is a very small portable SSD which can easily be carried in pocket. My Passport SSD will be available in the market  this quarter with three different sizes and price range, 256GB ($99.99), 512GB ($199.99), and 1TB ($399.99).
