Google Duo was announced by Google in March and was initially focused on video calls. Google Duo only supported audio calls in Brazil. On Sunday evening Google Engineer and technical lead for Google Duo announced on Twitter that audio calling feature is now live for Worldwide users.
Google is juggling with its messaging apps. Google has been working with several messaging apps like Google Allo and Google Hangouts and Google Duo for voice and video calling. The point here is that Google that Google seems to be confused with its messaging, voice and video calling apps. The company has recently closed its Google Talk and Google Spaces project while launching Google Hangout Meets.
Google’s strategy does not make any sense as if it wants to compete with apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger and FaceTime it needs to offer almost same or more enhanced features to the users. All these apps have something in common they offer users features like messaging, voice call, video call and file sharing from a single app.
On the other hand if you are a Google fan like me, you will have to install separate apps for each purpose which can be problematic and irritating sometimes. Google needs to review and revise its strategy and create a single app that allows users the convenience of using it for multiple purposes.
