Xiaomi a Chinese mobile company which has now become well recognized for their low priced smart phones has decided to manufacture their own processors. In the past company relied on processors like Qualcomm and Mediatek but was still able to produce some high quality devices. A recent report published in The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that the company has started the production of its own processor named “Pinecone”. Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 5c which is expected to hit the retail market will be the first phone having the Xiaomi’s Pinecone Processor.
In the mid 2015 the company first time announced that they have started designing and developing their own processor. This move will definitely ramp up the sales of Xiaomi phone devices. Through this move Xiaomi will be able to enhance the performance of its devices through better integration of hardware and operating system. Xiaomi soon will be joining the list of companies producing their own processor chips. Some of the big names that are already manufacturing their own processors are Samsung, Apple and Huawei. LG has also in mid 2016 announced that it also is planning to manufacture their own processors.
Samsung has already seen a great success with their processor Exynos. We will still have to wait to see if Pinecone processor can give a tough time for its competitor.
