Google Has Recently Invested $875 Million In LG For Developing OLED Flexible Screens

Google has started to take interest in improving its Android hardware. According to Korea based Yonhap News and Electronic Times (ET) Google has recently invested $875 million in LG for developing OLED flexible screens for Google made Pixel Android smartphone series. There is a great demand for Google’s Pixel phones but the company has had trouble in meeting the supply requirements.

Google in past partnered with smartphone giants like HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola and Huawei for manufacturing Nexus series devices for Google. Google decided to take charge of design and hardware of its new Pixel series but had trouble in meeting the market demand and was always short of supplies.  Pixel devices were launched only in selected countries but the stocks get short shortly after being available.

This will be a very good initiative for Google as this will allow a stable supply of curved OLED displays for upcoming Google devices including Pixel smartphones and Pixel smartwatches. There is no doubt that Pixel is one of the best smartphones available in market but after the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8, Pixel devices will have to compete with some tough competitors. Google will need to take some initiatives to get a stable supply of hardware for Pixel devices.
