Xiaomi Android One ‘Mi A1’ was officially launched by Xiaomi today. This is the first budget friendly handset backed by Google. The official launch has confirmed many rumors. It was rumored that the Xiaomi A1 will be a rebranding of the Mi 5x, the official pictures revealed that Mi A1 and Mi 5x share a lots of similarities.
Xiaomi Mi A1 has one of the purest Android operating system available. As we stated in one of our previous post Android One is actually not a new project for Google which has a few years ago attempted to launch a similar project. Android One was intended to replicate the strategy to combine hardware and software similar to Nexus and Pixel devices. Unfortunately the project was not a success.
Xiaomi Mi A1 does not have MIUI software elements. The main feature of Mi A1 is the 12 + 12MP rear shooter arrangement. Xiaomi claims that this dual camera is similar to iPhone 7 Plus camera and is able to combine telephoto and wide angle lenses to produce 2x optical and 10x digital zoom. The camera setup is able to produce images similar to DSLR. Mi A1 comes with 1080p screen, 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, rear fingerprint sensor and 3080mAh battery.
Xiaomi Mi A1 is “Created by Xiaomi and powered by Google” comes with Android 7.1.2 and a promise that it will be updated to Oreo by the end of this year. Xiaomi also claimed that the device will be among the first devices to get updated to Android P. The Mi A1 was launched today in India and will be available in 37 other countries soon. The debut price of Android One (Mi A1) is $235 in India.
