Xiaomi which is the ranked 4th in Chinese Smartphone Market after its success in local market is looking for opportunities in foreign markets. Recently Xiaomi has launched its products in Pakistan. This is not the first time that the company has tried to capture the Pakistani market. In 2016 the company partnered with a local online store Cheezmall but was ordered to stop its distribution by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
PTA is responsible for monitoring and approving telecommunications products in Pakistan. PTA halted Xiaomi’s distributions operation because the company did not obtain a No Objections Certificate (NOC) and Type Approval from the authorities.
In November 2016 Xiaomi officially requested for NOC from PTA, PTA approved Xiaomi’s request. PTA has also issued type approval for two Xiaomi models Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Max both come with 3GB Ram. The company will soon get type approval for its other models. A recent advertisement in local newspaper disclosed that Xiaomi has partnered with a local distributer Smartlink Technologies.
Xiaomi smartphones and gadgets are now available on different online stores and through their official website XiaomiPakistan. It is expected that like Huawei and Lenovo, Xiaomi will make its market in Pakistan.
The brand is already recognized in Pakistan. Previously the consumers had to rely on Aliexpress.com to buy Xiaomi products. The brand will definitely become much popular as Xiaomi producing high quality products and the prices are low as compared to other brands.
